Network Facilities and Machine Names

Here is some information about our network. This information will assist you in configuring your software to access our system.

Please note: the domain names intcon.net and cottagesoft.com are completely interchangable. You may use whichever one you desire.

DNS Servers

Dial up customers are automatically assigned both primary and secondary DNS servers automatically when they connect. If your software does not function properly using an automatic assignment of DNS servers, or you desire to input the DNS servers manually, these are the servers you can use.

The Internet Connection operates the following DNS servers:

Tulsa, OK 206.230.48.4, 206.230.48.2

Oklahoma City, OK 63.171.168.2

Wichita, KS 208.34.44.7

For Tulsa, OK, Panama, OK and usage of our 800 modem access service use the following DNS servers.

Primary 206.230.48.4

Secondary 206.230.48.2

Tertiary 63.171.168.2

For Oklahoma City, OK use the following DNS servers.

Primary 63.171.168.2

Secondary 206.230.48.4

Tertiary 206.20.48.2

For Wichita, KS and Chebanse, IL use the following DNS servers:

Primary 208.34.44.7

Secondary 206.230.48.4

Tertiary 206.230.48.2

Mail Servers

All users should use the following Email servers:

Incoming mail POP3 or IMAP server

Primary pop3.intcon.net

Outgoing mail SMTP server.

Primary smtp.intcon.net

Secondary smtp1.intcon.net

If your software uses only one server, then you may use mail.intcon.net.

News Servers

The news group servers are:

Primary nntp.intcon.net Has approximately 32,000 news groups, and permits posting.

Secondary nntp1.intcon.net Is experimental, and usually has approximately 80,000 news groups, and does not permit posting. It is a news reader only. May not always be available.

You may also use the machine name of news.intcon.net, and news1.intcon.net as aliases for the primary and secondary news servers above.
